I sat on December 31st of last year to sit down and write a list of what I was thankful for in 2017. To reflect in a sense. I know so many people say “don’t look back, we’re not going that way”, but how can we prevent the same mistakes if we aren’t able to openly reflect on our past. I will start by saying overall 2017 was an incredible year for myself and my husband. We were so very blessed, and continue to be. With that said, it doesn’t mean there wasn’t difficulty and tribulation. So I decided to write in my journal just a little thank you note to 2017. Thanking the year for all the good, bad, amazing, and ugly. I urge you to do the same, at any point! Even on the first of each month, look back and reflect on the prior month (maybe even week!).
Here’s a synopsis of my 2017 Thank You Letter:
2017 I thank you for opportunity. The opportunity to live out my dream as a travel nurse. Even if was short lived, I don’t regret for 1 second my experience living out one of my biggest dreams in Salt Lake City. Next for the opportunity to spend time with both Pedro and I’s family. We lived at my parents house for a period and also the incredible opportunity to live with Pedro’s family for 2 months in Brazil. To travel and learn more about his culture, family, and language. I learned to slow down, way down. Also to watch my surroundings more closely. I learned a lot about myself in Brazil, more than any other place on Earth. I thank you for that. I thank you for the apartment we found and are happily nested into. I’m beyond appreciative of the job opportunities we received right away upon coming back into the U.S. I thank you for the courage for us to reach for our dreams and encouraging each other in the process, even when it’s difficult to see the other’s vision. I am in awe of all the great things 2017 brought me. 2018 has a lot to live up to, but I have a feeling 2018 will make it’s own mark.
I also want to thank you, wherever you may be reading this. I’m very much still finding my way in the health and wellness world, learning to make my mark, exploring what works and doesn’t work for myself and as a business owner. I hope to inspire and encourage people, especially women, even if it’s just a handful. That’s what matters to me and I am pushing myself to continue pursuing in 2018. I thank YOU for hanging on in this wild ride!
